The Bab el-Mandeb Strait connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden. The waters around Djibouti host pristine coral reefs and tropical fish species. Diving operators in Djibouti City offer reef and wreck dives. The reefs are among the least developed in the Red Sea due to minimal tourism; biodiversity is exceptional. Visibility is generally good. Both recreational and technical diving are available. Boats depart regularly from the capital.
