Zambezi Valley and Mana Pools
Lower Zambezi region with riverine ecosystems, floodplain landscapes, and walking safari traditions.
Mana Pools National Park and surrounding Zambezi Valley offers a different wildlife experience than Hwange. The Zambezi River floodplain creates seasonal pools that attract wildlife. Walking safaris (the park pioneered this tradition) offer intimate wildlife encounters. The landscape is marked by riverine forest, granite hills, and open floodplains. Access is limited (rough roads, limited lodges); the area offers genuine wilderness experience. Dry season (June-September) is optimal for wildlife viewing and accessibility.
