Hwange National Park

Zimbabwe's largest game reserve with significant elephant populations, diverse wildlife, and savanna ecosystems.

Hwange National Park encompasses 14,651 square kilometers with populations of African elephants, lions, buffalo, and numerous antelope species. The park is famous for large elephant herds; during dry season (June-September), animals concentrate at water sources (pans), allowing excellent wildlife viewing from vehicles. Multiple lodges offer accommodations from budget to luxury. The park is accessible from Victoria Falls (making a combined falls-safari visit possible) or from Harare. Game drives are primary activity; walking safaris are less common than in Zambia but available.
