Confluence of the Niles, Khartoum

Meeting point of Blue Nile and White Nile in Sudan's capital, viewed from the Toti Island

In central Khartoum, the Blue Nile (from Ethiopia) and White Nile (from Uganda/South Sudan) merge visibly; the water colors differ enough to see the division. Toti Island offers a view and cultural museum. Sunset views are atmospheric. The confluence is symbolic of Sudan's geographical and cultural importance. Khartoum itself has limited tourist infrastructure but effort is being made to develop cultural offerings.
