Aldabra Atoll

UNESCO World Heritage atoll hosting the world's largest tortoise population and pristine coral gardens.

This remote atoll (460km from Mahe) is one of Earth's least-disturbed atolls. It hosts over 100,000 giant Aldabra tortoises (endemic to the atoll), exceptional diving, and birdlife. Access is strictly controlled to preserve the environment; only a few tour operators are licensed. A trip requires advance planning and significant expense but is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
