Tsingy de Bemaraha

UNESCO World Heritage site of razor-sharp limestone needles and canyons creating an impassable labyrinth.

A vast karst plateau of sharp limestone formations (some 40m tall) covering over 150 sq km. Walking trails (with guides mandatory) wind through the stone maze. The Grand Tsingy trail is the most spectacular; the Petit Tsingy is shorter and less demanding. Primate species found only here include Decken's sifaka lemurs. The site is remote; allow 2-3 days and hire guides locally.
