Andasibe-Mantadia National Park
Primary rainforest reserve 140km east of Antananarivo, home to indri lemurs and endemic birds.
Two adjacent protected areas (Andasibe and Mantadia) protect pristine rainforest. The indri lemur's haunting 2km-range call echoes through the canopy. Trails range from easy 1-hour walks to strenuous 5-hour hikes. The reserve is accessible from the capital (2-3 hours by car) and affordable. Early morning hikes yield the most wildlife sightings.
