Avenue of the Baobabs

Iconic 2km-long tree-lined road with ancient baobabs creating a cathedral of nature.

Located near Menabe, this straight red-dirt road is lined with towering baobab trees (some over 800 years old) framing the horizon in both directions. The avenue is stunning at sunrise and sunset when light gilds the trunks and shadows deepen. Locals use the road daily; visitors often camp nearby or picnic at sunset. The experience is utterly surreal and one of Madagascar's most photographed sites.
