Sudd Wetlands

One of the world's largest freshwater wetland systems with exceptional bird watching and wildlife density.

The Sudd is a vast papyrus-dominated wetland that expands seasonally with White Nile flooding. It is home to millions of migrating birds, hippopotamus herds, Nile crocodiles, and fish species. The ecosystem supports Nuer and Dinka pastoralist communities who have inhabited these waters for centuries. Access is by riverboat or light aircraft; visits require specialized guides and preparation.
