Kano Indigo Dye Pits
Ancient craft tradition with centuries-old dye vats and hand-dyed fabric.
In the old Kano city, family-run dye houses use indigo vats that are generations old. Craftsmen hand-dye cloth using traditional methods; the work is strenuous and skilled. The pits are open pits in courtyards; photographs are usually allowed with a small contribution. Absorbing and tactile. Note: Kano is in a high-risk region currently.
