Gorongosa National Park

Massive (5,600 sq km) park undergoing wildlife restoration, with elephants, buffalo, and emerging biodiversity.

Once devastated by war, Gorongosa is being rebuilt as a wildlife stronghold. Large herds of buffalo and increasing elephant populations roam the savanna. The park spans multiple ecosystems from wetlands to highlands. Game drives and walking safaris are offered. Infrastructure is developing; multiple lodges exist. A 2-3 day visit allows diverse landscape exploration.
