Fouta Djallon Plateau

High plateau region with Fulani villages, green grasslands, and scenic hiking.

The Fouta Djallon is Guinea's most distinctive landscape: a high plateau at 800-1,200 meters with steep escarpments, rushing streams, and verdant grasslands. Fulani herding communities dot the region, living in compounds of cylindrical houses. Hiking trails connect villages, offering perspectives on rural life and spectacular valley views. Best visited November-April when weather is dry.
