Safety

Burkina Faso (entire country)

Do not travel

DO NOT TRAVEL. As of 2025, Burkina Faso is under do-not-travel advisories by UK FCDO, US State Dept, and most Western governments due to active armed conflict, terrorism, and humanitarian crisis. Multiple armed groups operate nationwide; jihadist insurgencies control significant territory. Kidnappings, bombings, and armed clashes occur regularly. All borders are effectively closed or heavily restricted.

Avoid: Entire country. No areas are considered safe. Northern and eastern regions are under effective control of armed groups. Even Ouagadougou has experienced bombings. Road travel is extremely dangerous due to checkpoints and ambushes.
