FESPACO Pan-African Film Festival (historical)
Biennial pan-African film festival (held in odd years). A cornerstone of African cinema and cultural dialogue since 1969.
FESPACO is one of Africa's premier film festivals, showcasing cinema from across the continent and diaspora. It is a political and cultural event, not just entertainment; films are platforms for discussing colonialism, resistance, and African futures. The festival brings intellectuals, filmmakers, and activists together. It has been disrupted by the current conflict; 2023 and 2025 editions were significantly affected or cancelled.
