Ancient settlement with terracotta figurines and evidence of pre-Islamic kingdoms. Currently not accessible.

Bankoni has yielded important archaeological finds indicating complex pre-colonial societies. The site provides evidence of artistic and organizational sophistication predating European contact. It is an important research site for African history but is not set up for tourism and is in an unsafe region.
