Tozeur is a traditional palm oasis town in central Tunisia known for architecture using distinctive red and yellow brick. The medina is compact. The surrounding date palm plantations are lush. The vast Chott el-Djerid salt lake extends south, creating surreal landscapes. Organized excursions explore the salt lake by 4WD. Star Wars filming sites in the region are also visited.
