Zanzibar Beaches and Islands

Pristine Indian Ocean beaches with coral reefs, turquoise water, and opportunities for diving, snorkeling, and island hopping.

Zanzibar's beaches are world-class for swimming and water sports. Nungwi Beach in the north offers strong undertow but dramatic scenery; Paje Beach in the east is calmer and backed by kite-surfing spots. Pemba Island nearby offers excellent diving with minimal crowds. Snorkeling reveals colorful coral gardens and fish. The tidal range is significant; tide times determine beach accessibility and water sports timing. Wet season (April-May) can bring seaweed, though dry seasons (June-October, January-February) offer clearest water.
