Cape Point
Southernmost tip of Cape Peninsula; dramatic cliffs, two ocean views (Atlantic and Indian), hiking trails, viewpoint restaurants.
Cape Point (not Cape of Good Hope, which is nearby) is the wild southwestern terminus of the Cape Peninsula. A scenic drive south from Cape Town (45 minutes) passes Camps Bay beach and climbs to two viewpoint restaurants with unobstructed ocean vistas. From the upper station, short trails descend to rocky outcrops and cliff edges; views stretch 100+ km on clear days. The Cape Point Nature Reserve protects fynbos (protea flowers, endemic plants) and resident baboons (keep food secured). Spot whale breaches in June-December and great white sharks patrolling in cooler months. A day trip from Cape Town suffices (2-3 hours exploring plus drive); combining with Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden or Constantia wine estates creates a full day. Wear windproof jackets; weather changes rapidly. Sunset is golden but crowded.
