Principe Island
Tiny, pristine northern island with few tourists, pristine beaches, and isolation as the main draw.
Principe is Sao Tome's smaller neighbor, only 10 km by 6 km. Population is under 7,000; tourism is minimal. Santo Antonio is the sole town. Beaches are pristine and nearly empty. Rainforest covers much of the island. The experience is one of genuine isolation and tranquility. Ferries are unreliable; flights are the main link. Very few accommodations exist; book in advance. This is frontier island travel.
