Windhoek & Kulala Wilderness
Capital city with German colonial architecture, street markets, restaurants, nearby sand dune lodge resorts.
Windhoek (City of Light) is Namibia's compact, cosmopolitan capital with 400,000 people. German colonial buildings (Christuskirche, Parliament) dominate the skyline. The city has excellent restaurants (Angolan, Indian, Italian, local), craft beer breweries, and vibrant street markets (Post Street Mall). Rathaus beer hall offers local atmosphere. Hilltop views from NamibRand or Tin Roof spots. Within 60 km, sand dune lodges (Kulala Wilderness, others) offer luxury escapes while remaining accessible by car (1 hour). Windhoek is the logical entry/exit point; budget 1 day for city exploration before heading to reserves. Nightlife is cosmopolitan and LGBTQ-friendly. Shopping includes craft markets and upmarket malls.
