Ouadane
Another ancient Saharan trading post with fortress ruins and desert landscapes.
Ouadane is a fortified desert town perched on a rocky outcrop, with a fortress, mosque, and traditional architecture. The town dates back to the 13th century and was a trading hub on caravan routes. The setting is dramatic and isolated. Access requires organized desert tours. The town is slightly less visited than Chinguetti, offering a more isolated experience.
