Banc d'Arguin National Park

UNESCO marine reserve and one of the world's great birdwatching sites, with thousands of migratory birds.

Banc d'Arguin is a marine national park and UNESCO World Heritage site, protecting shallow lagoons, islands, and sandbanks. The park is home to one million birds, including flamingos, herons, eagles, and migratory waders. Access is via organized boat tours from Nouakchott (arrange through hotels or licensed operators). The park is pristine and birdwatchers consider it one of the finest sites on the continent.
