Mulanje Mountain

Dramatic massif rising 3,000m with montane forest and panoramic views of southern Malawi.

The distinctive Mulanje massif (also known as Mulanje Plateau or Sapitwa, meaning 'don't go there') is a sacred place and serious hiking destination. The highest peak is Sapitwa at 3,002m. Multi-day treks traverse the plateau, passing mountain streams and endemic plants. A guide is required for safety and local knowledge.
