Amboseli National Park
Semi-arid park with large elephant herds, views of Mount Kilimanjaro (in Tanzania), and traditional Maasai presence.
Amboseli is famous for elephants and views of Kilimanjaro across the Tanzania border. On clear days, the snow-capped peak dominates the horizon. The park is smaller than the Mara but offers intimate wildlife encounters. Observation hills provide elevated viewing points. Maasai communities live alongside the park; cultural tourism can be arranged. The ecosystem is semi-arid; wildlife congregates around water sources. The landscape is open savanna with sparse vegetation.
