Buque River and Mangrove Estuary
Vast mangrove wetlands where rivers meet the Atlantic, rich in birds and fish.
Guinea-Bissau's interior is defined by mangrove-lined rivers and creeks. The Buque River estuary is accessible by dugout canoe or small boat and offers perspectives on fishing life and wildlife. Birdwatching is excellent, especially for waders and raptors. Hire boats and guides through Bissau tourism operators. Best in dry season when water levels are lower.
