Hlane Royal National Park
Lowveld reserve (11,000 hectares), big game (elephant, rhino, buffalo), lion presence, Usuthu River gorge, game drives and walking safaris.
Hlane Royal National Park spans 11,000 hectares of lowveld grassland and riverine habitat. It protects big five wildlife (including lion, reintroduced elephants, and rhino). Game drives with lodge guides are the primary activity; walking safaris with armed rangers add immersion. The Usuthu River gorge offers scenic hiking. Accommodation ranges from budget campsites (60-120 SZL/night) to mid-range chalets (300-600 SZL/night). Access is via Big Bend town (2+ hours from Mbabane). Hlane is less developed than Mlilwane, offering a more remote safari experience. Best season: May-September (cool, dry, animals concentrated). December-January is hot and attracts fewer visitors.
