Dzanga-Sangha Dense Forest Reserve
One of Africa's last intact rainforests with forest elephant, bongo antelope, and 77 primate species.
Dzanga-Sangha is among the most biodiverse reserves in Africa, harboring forest elephants, western lowland gorillas, forest buffalo, and dense birdlife. The forest is primeval and largely untouched. Access is extremely difficult; hire a guide from Sangha-Sangha village. This requires a serious commitment: malaria risk is high, facilities are basic, and travel takes days. Rewards are unparalleled wildlife viewing for those prepared for hardship.
