Moremi Game Reserve
Protected wildlife area (3,900 sq km) within Okavango Delta system; self-drive and guided safaris, big five, spectacular bird populations.
Moremi is a 3,900 sq km reserve carved out of the Okavango Delta system, protecting critical habitat. Entry is restricted (permits required, usually via lodge booking). The reserve is accessible via 4x4 self-drive (park entry 100-150 BWP/day) or guided lodge safaris. Game is prolific: lion prides, leopards, elephant herds, buffalo. Hippo pools and lagoons are hotspots. Birdwatching rivals the Okavango. Accommodation ranges from budget self-catering chalets (150-300 BWP/night) to mid-range lodges (600-1,000 BWP/night) to luxury mobile camps. Driving is on rough 4x4-only tracks; guided walks with armed rangers add immersion. Best season: May-September (cool, dry, animals concentrated). Rainy season (November-March) is green and wet; roads become difficult; fewer tourists.
