Ngaoundéré is a Fulani city at 1,100m altitude with an emirate structure that predates the colonial period. The Lamidat palace receives visitors for a guided tour of the reception halls and a brief audience with a palace official. The weekly emirate court, held on Fridays, is one of the most authentic ceremonial gatherings in Central Africa.
