Seasonal note
Nov – Mar only
The ascent begins above Buea at the mountain's Atlantic base, climbing through dense montane forest, then sub-alpine moorland on day two, then bare lava slopes to the crater rim at 4,095m on day three morning. Certified guides from the Mount Cameroon Ecotourism Organisation manage the route. Every guide, porter, and hut fee goes directly back to the 12 communities on the mountain's flanks.
Did you know
Mount Cameroon last erupted in 2000. Lava channels from that event are still visible on the upper slopes above 2,800m.
